Arena Box

In the spring of 2020, I decided to make a couple of new photoboxes as I was tired of having to repeatedly set up scenes with my loose props each time I needed a picture. I made it huge so that I could use it for a range of scales. The sides ensure that there is no way for a model to "hang out" of the scene.

The box is made of scrap wood and a lot of wood glue.

The wall panels are made from popsicle sticks and balsa wood scraps

I didn't really appreciate how huge it was until I popped a model in. This is a Classic scale Breyer.

I used coffee stirers to make the "corrugated metal" sections.

All finished!

I planned to make this box as versatile as possible, so in addition to a curtain backdrop, I made another based on the view from the Godolphin Arabian's grave.

I used a piece of scrap wood and some wall filler to make a stone floor base.

In addition to the tunnel backdrop, I made a little, Stablemate scale arena wall to use in the box.
